An improved TR arrived in 1955 the TR3. The TR3 could be easily identified by its new "egg crate" front grille which made the car look more complete than previous model (the TR2 had a recessed grille). The TR3 could be specified with an overdrive that operated on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. Other options included wire wheels and small rear seat for occasional use.
The TR3 lasted until 1957 when it was further improved and became the TR3A.
