Pre-dating the more successful MGBGT, the TR4 based Dove coupe first appeared in 1961. The Dove GTR4 was sold exclusively through London Triumph agents Doves of Wimbledon and were converted TR4 roadsters. The coachbuilder behind the conversion was already experienced at converting the Sunbeam Alpine range into a similar coupe.
Due to the extra bodywork the GTR4 gained 500Ibs in weight and a larger capacity fuel tank. The rear seats were quite small (as in the BGT) and were suitable for small children only. Only a small number of these pretty coupes have survived and they are now highly prized by Triumph fans.
