Triumph Herald Convertible

The Triumph Herald range first appeared in 1959 and offered economical family motoring with sporty Sixties flair. Triumph took an unusual approach to design and production of the Herald which consisted of a separate chassis, a modular body constructed from sub-assembly panels. Because the Herald was so easy to put together a whole range of body styles were soon made available, including a four seat convertible.

The Herald convertible used the same 948cc four cylinder engine as the rest of the range which featured twin carbs and produced 45bhp. The convertible used a proper hood which had large rear windows and could be folded away flat when the weather allowed. When new the Herald convertible was an attractive and modern alternative to other small open cars (such as the Morris Minor Tourer) and has remained a popular choice ever since.
