The Avanti customer could choose from a broad range of engines. There were several V-8 units, with and without turbochargers and with single or quadruple carburettors. The top speed was given in publicity material as 156 mph (250 kph).
The Avanti was supposed to have prevented Studebaker's demise but the plan failed. Avantis have continued to be built, but not as a Studebaker.
