In 1964 the Sprite/Midget received further improvements, the 'Healey version now being known as the Mk III. Mechanically the cars now featured a stronger crankshaft, a slight increase in power and revised rear springs.
The Sprite Mk III now came with wind-up door windows and exterior door handles, much to the horror of some die-hard enthusiasts!!. The windscreen was now much larger, an improved facia along with a better steering wheel were also fitted.
