Three-wheeled cars have come and gone and almost all of them were survived by the Bond, named after the spiritual father Lawrence Bond.  A vehicle bearing this name was displayed in 1949 at a car and motorcycle show where it attracted interest from both motorists and motor-cyclists.  British motor-cyclists who were fed up with having to cope with the elements on their motor cycle were able to switch over to these new vehicles with their motor-cycle licence, provided there was no reverse gear.  If he was too lazy to push his car back, the price of £295 for the car was increased by £8 10 shillings but then a car licence was needed.  The first Bond cars were two-seaters with an aluminium body and 122 cc Villiers two-stroke engine.  The single-cylinder engine drove the single front wheel which also steered the car.  The air-cooled motor-cycle engine produced just 5 bhp so that the top speed was no higher than 40 mph (65 kph).
