The car was powered by a 1490cc Dorman S4 4-cylinder engine with 3-speed gearbox and spiral bevel rear axle by Wrigley, who also supplied the steering gear. It seems that this reliance on Wrigley proved unwise, for when that company was taken over for manufacture of the Morris Commercial, Abingdon lost their supplier and did not bother to look for another. Probably they found car manufacture unprofitable anyway, and only 12 Abingdons were built.
