In 1961 Daimler introduced a new formal limousine version of its Majestic Major, the DR450. The DR450 used the same 4561cc V8 engine as the smaller Majestic Major but featured a longer chassis and bodyshell complete with a higher roofline. These massive cars weighed in at around two tons and were primarily intended for the private hire sector or operators looking for a limousine with more substantial proportions than the standard car.
The Daimler DR450 continued in production until the arrival of the DS420 in 1968, by then some 864 examples had been sold.
