Jensen CV8 Mk III

Overview

Produced: 1965-1966, 181 produced.
Types: Coupe, 2 doors, 4 seats

The Jensen CV8, famous for its controversial slant-eyed styling, was one of the fastest-accelerating four-seater cars of the 1960s.  Using Chrysler's 5916cc 305bhp V8 (with Torqufilte three-speed automatic transmission), it easily undercut all the big gun opposition on price, and could reach 120mph (192km/h) from rest in less than half a minute.  Although following established Jensen concepts - steel pressings and a box section to carry the suspension - the CV8's chassis was new and , like many high-class British manufacturers, Jensen went about plundering the parts bins of lowly mass-market firms for brakes and suspension.

The model was progressively improved over four years of production.  The last and best-looking of the line was the MkIII of 1965, with its lower scuttle, equalsize lights and lack of chrome around the headlight apertures.
