The HRG was never a cheap car. In 1948 the enthusiast was asked to pay £850 plus £236 purchase tax for the 1500 Sports two-seater. The car gave the owner lots of fun for his money. The four cylinder engine had an overhead camshaft and delivered 61 bhp at 4,800 rpm. This could take the car to 100 mph (160 km/hour)
