Overview

Produced: 1965-1969, 30300 produced.
Types: Coupe, 2 doors, 4 seats

Visually similar to the 911, the 4 cylinder 912 first appeared in 1965 effectively replacing the 356C. Mechanically the 912 used the 911 suspension, (and later the dual-circuit brakes of the 911), but was powered by the old 356, 1582cc engine.

The 912 came in both Coupe and Targa formats, late cars used the revised longer wheelbase of the sister 911. 912's were particularly popular in the US, indeed the 912 confusingly reappeared in 1975 for the US market only. Apart from its brief reappearance in 1975 the production of the 912 finished in 1969, by then over 30,000 cars had been built.
