Lotus Elite S1

Overview
Produced: 1974-1980, 2535 produced.
Types: Hatchback,2 doors,4 seats(Sporting hachback)
The Elan +2 ceased production in 1974 and was followed by the Eilte S1.  The Elan +2 looked precisely like the sports car of the similar name but the Elite S1 had no resemblance whatever with the super sports car that was so far ahead of its rivals between 1958 and 1963.  This new car looked more of an estate car than a sporting coupe.  The body was polyester once more of course and there was a 1,973 cc Jensen Healey engine under the bonnet.  The cylinder head had twin over-head camshafts and four valves per cylinder to deliver 155 bhp at 6,500 rpm.  This model remained in production for six years but did not sell well.  Practical Classics November 2002 - Featuring Buyers Guide - Lotus Eclat, Elite and Excel - 1974-1992.  Click Here to view in our shop.
