After World War II Lancia introduced the Aprillia and smaller Ardea which both had monocoque bodies, independent front suspension and a V-4 engine.  The Aprillia also had independent rear suspension.  This car had a 1,486 cc engine producing power of 48 bhp at 4,300 rpm.  The cars had been developed before the war and the Aprillia was the last car to be created under Vincenzo Lancia's leadership.  Both cars seemed modern though in 1946 their streamlined bodies with no pillars between the doors.
