Lea-Francis attempted to reach a bigger market with its sports car but unfortunately this failed. The 2,496 cc four cylinder initially produced 106 then 125 bhp at 5,200 rpm. The Lea-Francis Sports was more of a 2+2 tourer than sporting car.
A final effort was made to save the company in 1960 with the launch of a new sports car. This used parts from the Ford Zephyr, no longer built but with an adequate supply of parts, but the project never got beyond the prototype stage.
