Alfa Romeo launched a new small saloon in 1962, the Giulia. The came in both "TI" and "Super" versions, a twin-cam 1570cc engine was used in both models, power ranged from 92bhp to 102bhp depending on specification. All Giulia models came with coil spring suspension and a five speed gearbox, the Super version also had twin Weber carbs.
Despite the Giulia saloons boxy appearance it had a low drag coefficient and performed extremely well for such a small saloon. Production of the Giulia lasted for ten years, production finished in 1972.
