The design of the Renault 8 with the rear-mounted engine seemed like its forerunner, the Dauphine. The body was more angular though and at the time more up-to-date. The Gordini R8 could be recognised by the two fog-lights incorporated in the front of the car. The engine produced 95 bhp at 6,500 rpm.
