The Renault 16 was in many respects an enlarged version of the Renault 4. Its fifth door provided the utility and space of an estate car. First examples had a 1,470 cc engine, increased later to 1,565 and then 1,647 cc. Power went up from 55 to 93 bhp.
The TS version not only had a more powerful engine but also a tachometer which were only found in sports cars in those days.
