Renault added another front wheel drive, family model to its range in 1969, the 12. The Renault 12 featured very modern styling (for 1969!) which had clean, straight-cut lines featuring a classic "3 box" layout of four doors and a boot.
Although most Renault 12's had the standard 1289cc four cylinder the more sporty "12 TS" used a 60bhp unit followed by a 110bhp Gordini version. In the USA a special version was produced and sold as the "12 America", powered by a 63bhp 1647cc engine.
Production of the Renault 12 series lasted until 1980.
