Launched alongside the Riley RMC, the 2.5 litre RMD first appeared in 1948 as yet another alternative bodystlye based on the 2.5 litre RM chassis. The RMD carried very graceful, traditional looking two door drop head coupe coachwork and was mechanically identical to the 2.5 litre RM saloons.
Despite its distinctive styling and 100bhp, 2443cc twin-cam engine the RMD failed to sell in substantial numbers and production ceased in 1951after just 500 cars had been built.
