The car was primarily destined for Formula Junior. Monteverdi called his creation MBM (Monteverdi Basel Motors) and the car performed well. The MBM Sport was built using mechanical parts from Osca. The 1,092 cc engine developed 100 bhp at 7,500 rpm.
In 1961, he built the first Swiss Formula one car, which bore the name MBM.
