Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce

Overview

Types: Convertible, 2 doors

Alfa Romeo replaced its 1750 Spider with a new 2.0 litre version in 1971, the Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce. The new Spider looked very similar to the previous model, its main improvement lay underneath the bonnet in the form of a 1962cc, four cylinder, twin cam engine. The 2000 engine produced 132bhp, so servo assisted brakes were a welcome addition.

The 2000 Spider Veloce remained in production for many years, right up until the mid-1990's in fact. During the mid-1970's larger, energy absorbing bumpers were added to replace the earlier chrome items to allow sales of the Spider to continue in the USA, which had become a popular overseas destination for this particular model.
