In 1935, Opel was one of the first to produce a car with a monocoque body, without a chassis.  This was the Olympia which was produced once more from 1947.  Some ten years later the body was still modern but the overhead valve engine of 1,488 cc that produced 37 bhp at 3,500 rpm could also still hold its own.
