Cars tend to start small and grow as they mature.  This was the case of the Fiat 850, which succeeded the 600.  With its 843 cc engine and 34 bhp, it was already much more car than its forerunner.  The Fiat 850 was launched in May 1964.  By the time it was taken off the market in 1971, almost 1,8000,000 had been sold without counting the 350,000 coupes and 124,000 convertibles.
