My grandparents went to Europe in 1970.  My grandfather ordered this car and had it delivered to Portugal so when he and my grandmother got off the boat, the car was there.  They used it to tour Europe and visit family in Italy.  When the trip was over, they brought the car to the United States and gave it to my aunt. I have a pic of me at age five on that day.  I will soon upload.  She drove it for years then after marriage and three kids the car was too small so it went back to my grandfather.  Upon his death in 1983 my aunt took the car back but soon realized she did not need it.  Since my grandfather and I worked on it together and I and my father are the big car buffs in the family, my aunt gave me the car.  From 1984 to 1991 I drove it when I was not driving my 124 spyder or my '66 bug.  (The spyder got stolen I still have the bug!)  The engine has some problems that got so bad I had to take it out of service.  College, work, marriage and life in general happened and I never got to completing the repair.  BUT not to worry, the car is safely stored and in really good condition in my parents basement.  It has some slight issues, like a rust hole in the passenger door about an inch or inch and a half in diameter.  This car has been in my family since new and will remain so.  I have begun a cleanup and repair to get him back on the road.  Hopefuly soon!  I'll scan the photos and upload asap.  It is yellow with black interior and still have the European number plate on front.  I have never driven it that I did not get some comment.  Mostly asking what it is!  The suspention is in excellent shape and driving it was always a pleasure and fun!
