The Mk V 3.5 litre was the flagship of Jaguars new range when it first appeared at the London Motor Show, alongside the also new XK120 sportscar. The Mk V 3.5 litre used the 3485cc "Standard" derived, six cylinder engine, which had already proved itself in earlier models, it provided the Mk V with good performance, despite being slightly "long-in-the-tooth" by 1948.
The Mk V 3.5 litre came with a choice of a four door saloon or elegant drop head coupe coachwork, interestingly the drop head was available for the same price as the saloon. The styling was an intriguing blend of old and modern, its lines being traditional and yet incorporating modern features such as faired-in headlamps and mudguards (wings/fenders).
The Mk V 3.5 litre offered good performance and continued to sell in steady numbers until production ended in 1951.
