Jaguar Mk VII

Overview

Produced: 1950-1954, 20908 produced.
Types: Saloon, 4 doors, 4 seats

In 1950 Jaguar announced its latest saloon model, the XK engined Mk VII saloon. The Mk VII was a much larger and more powerful car than the old outgoing Mk V model. Despite its large, bulbous looks and considerable bulk (2 tons in weight) the Mk VII had excellent performance and good handling characteristics to entertain sporting drivers.

The body of the Mk VII was all new and featured contemporary styling elements typical of the early 1950's. The interior of the Mk VII was well equipped and featured the usual wood and leather expected of a car in this class. Amongst the options available on the Mk VII were automatic and overdrive gearboxes and even a race proven "C-type" cylinder head.

The Mk VII was finally superseded by the updated Mk VIIM in 1954.
