In 1959 Jaguar unveiled a new performance version to its XK150 range, the XK150S. The "S" boasted a revised cylinder head, bigger carbs and manual overdrive transmission, in 1959 a 3.8 litre version replaced the previous 3.4 litre unit.
The XK150S could be specified in either Fixed Head Coupe, Drophead Coupe or as a much more sporty Roadster. The Roadster followed the original XK120 concept but benefited from improved creature comforts, such as wind-up door windows. Most XK150S models went abroad and certainly paved the way for the much more modern E-type that replaced it in 1961.
