Jaguar E-type 4.2 litre Roadster Series II

Along with the two Coupe versions of the E-type 4.2, the Roadster version received some significant changes during 1968. Early 1968 cars gained exposed headlamps (the sleek Perspex covers no longer met Federal safety standards), a collapsible steering column and a revised facia which incorporated safety "rocker" switches.

Towards the end of 1968 the E-type Roadster gained Series II status along with the E-type Coupes. The Series II added larger bumpers and different, larger front side/flasher and tail/stop/flasher lamps to meet further U.S. safety legislation. Mechanically the Series II Roadster gained electric fans, but otherwise remained unchanged from the Series I 4.2 litre model.

This spec is for the US version. The carburettors were two Zenith units, not SU. The UK and European version maintained the "full-fat-milk" engine with 265 HP and 3 SU carburettors.

Automatic transmission was available in the 2+2 Coupe only, in series II (although across the range in Series III), and was a three, not a four-speed unit from Borg Warner. (Source - visitor to Motorbase)
