Jaguar E-type 4.2 litre Coupe Series II

Overview
Produced: 1968-1970, 4855 produced.
Types: Coupe,2 doors,2 seats

In 1968 Jaguar introduced some significant changes to the E-type, including the 4.2 Coupe. These updated cars became known as the Series 1 1/2 in later life, towards the end of 1968 they were officially named the "Series II".

Early 1968 4.2 Coupes received exposed headlamps, with fussy chrome embellishers, a collapsible steering column and safety dashboard "rocker" switches. The later, Series II, added new bumpers and larger lights to the other safety features. All of the new "improvements" were aimed at the increasingly paranoid U.S. market, Jaguars most important sale area.

Apart from the safety items the 4.2 Coupe Series II remained mechanically unchanged, although electric cooling fans were now standard and a low emission engine was fitted to U.S. cars. The Series II lacked the slender styling features of the early E-type, still the model continued to sell well for Jaguar.
