Jaguar E-type 4.2 litre 2+2 Series II

Like many other British cars of the Sixties the E-type soon found itself gaining ungainly safety features to enable it to continue selling in the all important US market. In 1968 the E-type 2+2 gained the first of these modifications which included cover-less headlamps, dashboard rocker switches and a collapsible steering rack. These modified cars are now known as the E-type Series 1 1/2, although they were not officially called this at the time.

Later 1968 cars became known as the E-type 2+2 Series II, receiving more modifications. The Series II now had higher bumpers and different front and rear lights to meet US legislation, these modifications looked ungainly when compared to the old Series I cars. The 2+2 version of the E-type remained the same practical package as before, offering greater interior room than the standard 2 seater.
