The Rover Fourteen first appeared in 1936 fitted with a 1.6 litre, six cylinder engine. The Fourteen was Rovers mid-range model and was available with a choice of either standard "Saloon" or "Sports Saloon" coachwork. From 1938 the Fourteen had a 1.9 litre engine which was of a more modern design than the original unit.

Production of the Fourteen continued after the war until 1948, a total of 1,705 cars had been built by that time.
