Rover P4 105R

Overview

Produced: 1956-1958, 3540 produced.
Types: Saloon, 4 doors, 4 seats

The rarest of all the Rover P4 variants is undoubtedly the 105R produced from 1956-1958. The 105R was an automatic only model, the "R" designation standing for "Roverdrive". The gearbox had two gears plus an overdrive unit, unfortunately it proved to be troublesome in service and did not appeal to traditional Rover buyers.

The 105R shared the new revised P4 bodyshell with the manual 105S which also entered production in 1956. The new bodyshell had a better looking front end with neater lamp details and a revised wing line. As with other models in the range the 105R had a well appointed interior trimmed in leather and walnut veneer.
