Rover P5 3-litre Mk IA

Overview

Produced: 1961-1962, 5713 produced.
Types: Saloon, 4 doors, 4 seats

Rover introduced a completely new model in 1958, the Rover P5 3-Litre. The 3-Litre was not intended to sell along side the established P4 series and never actually replaced it. Unlike the P4 the 3-Litre featured a unitary chassis and was considerably larger than the older model. The engine retained its traditional overhead inlet/side exhaust valve layout but had a larger capacity (2995cc) than the Rover 90.

From 1961 the 3-Litre received some minor trim and equipment changes. These post-1961 cars are Known as the Mk IA model and can be distinguished by the additional front door quarter light windows. Production of the Mk IA finished in 1962 when it was replaced by the further improved Mk II 3-Litre.
