Rover P5 3-litre MkII Saloon

Overview

Produced: 1962-1965, 15676 produced.
Types: Saloon, 4 doors, 4 seats

Rover introduced Mk II versions of its P5 3-Litre model in 1962. The Mk II now had a more powerful 2995cc engine (same capacity as before but now with 129bhp), an improved gearchange and lower slung suspension to improve handling. The most important change however was the addition of a four door "Coupe" bodystyle which sold alongside the standard Saloon version.

Although in some ways the Coupe was better looking than the Saloon (although the Saloon is still a handsome beast!) the Saloon continued to sell in greater numbers. The Coupe could not offer as much rear interior room as the Saloon and was therefore less practical, particularly if the owner employed a chauffeur to drive the car!
