Fend's single seater was probably originally intended for war disabled persons. The Messerschmitt was principally for the person who did not want to ride a motorcycle. Instead of a stearing wheel there was a mini set of handlebars. The Kabinenroller KR 175, as the factory named it, was powered by a 175 cc two-stroke engine by Fichtel & Sachs. Because the engine produced 9 bhp but the car only weighed 220 kg (484 lb) the top speed was of the order of 50 mph (80 kph). When a 200 cc engine was installed, the KR 200 was created of which 46,190 were sold.
