Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia Coupe Type-1
1954-1974, 364401 produced. ((all coupes))
Coupe,2 doors, 2+2 seats
The Karmann-Ghia was built in great numbers. The majority were coupes. The cars were built on unmodified Beetle running gear that were constantly improved. The Karmann-Ghia convertible was launched two years after the coupe, in 1957.
The Karmann-Ghia appears to be a smaller version of the Chrysler d'Elegance concept car designed by Virgil Exner in 1953 but the head of Ghia, Luigi Segre, claims the honour.
