Lot 580: 1983 BMW R80/100

Collectors' Motorcycles, Bonhams (24 April 2005)

BMW twins have a reputation, unrivalled in the motorcycle world, for reliability and longevity, transporting world travellers and policemen with equal ease. The 1980ís R100 is no exception. This machine was involved in an accident and, rather than re-use a suspect frame, was rebuilt around an almost identical R80 chassis. In light blue metallic paint with new brakes and Goodrich hoses, the engine has done only some 8000 miles and the rest of the bike is in good condition, though the speedometer needs attention. With a V5, this is the basis for a sound, everyday bike for the BMW enthusiast.
