Lot 612: 1937 Velocette 349cc KTS MkII

Collectors' Motor Cars, Bonhams (10 September 2005)

Introduced in 1925, the Velocette KSS was the super sports version of Veloce Ltdís first post-WWI four-stroke, the overhead camshaft Model K, while the KTS tourer employed the same overhead camshaft engine in virtually identical cycle parts, differences being confined mainly to mudguard style and wheel sizes. Introduced for the 1936 season, the MkII KSS/KTS represented a major re-design, featuring many improvements including a new aluminium-alloy cylinder head with enclosed valve-gear (replacing the old cast-iron íhead with exposed springs) plus the cradle frame and heavyweight Webb forks of the new MSS. Restored by Eric Houseley and used by him, this KTS MkII has been updated with an Amal Concentric carburettor. The machine displays a total of 16,663 miles on the odometer and carries a tax disc dated 1960. Offered with Swansea V5.
