Lot 252: 1967 Jaguar 420 Saloon

Spirit of Motoring, Coys (29 September 2005)

This fine example Jaguar 420 finished in blue with a blue leather interior was produced 1967 and comes with a particularly good history file. It is supplied with current road tax and MoT valid until 2006, there is an impressive run of some seventeen old MoT's going back to 1972 which confirm that the overall mileage for the four-door saloon is likely to have been circa 60,000. In fact, the car only had one owner from 1971 to 1988 and was stored from 1988 to 2003. Also with the car are various brochures, original handbooks and owners wallet as well as some recent bills detailing work carried out. The 420 has tended to be one of the more underrated of Jaguar models and as an interim model it still featured independent rear suspension and the robust and powerful 4.2 litre six cylinder XK engine. This example also boasts high specification as it comes with automatic transmission, power-assisted steering, wire wheels, Wilton carpets and a full length Webasto sunroof.
