Van Dijk Collection, H&H Sales Limited (3 October 2005)

A magnificent swansong, the Series III E-type broke cover in 1971. Powered by a fabulous new 5343cc ohc V12 engine developing some 272bhp and 304lbft of torque, it was both faster and more refined than its predecessors. Reputedly capable of 150mph and 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds, it also enjoyed improved roadholding courtesy of its broader track, revised suspension geometry and wider tyres. Imbued with a more muscular stance thanks to its flared wheelarches, re-profiled wings and larger grill, it carried updated vented disc brakes and a restyled interior. Finished in red with black leather / vinyl upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in excellent overall condition. Purchased from the E-type Centre in 2000, it is since reported to have undergone a "full restoration" costing in excess of 70,000. Apparently completed just fifteen months ago, cosmetic work included a bare metal respray, extensive re-chroming, fresh carpets / mohair hood, new wire wheels and the fitting of a CMC custom made aluminium bonnet. While mechanically, it gained a rebuilt engine (polished / balanced crankshaft, ported cylinder heads, SU carburettor conversion), more modern five-speed T5 gearbox, uprated suspension (stiffer torsion bars, Koni shock absorbers), upgraded CMC power steering rack and new wiring loom etc. Believed but not warranted to have covered 61,000 miles from new, it further benefits from sat-nav and a CD stacker system. A stunning car, it is offered for sale with "all restoration bills and photos". PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle now has an MOT until September 2006.
