Lot 301: 1954 Vindec 35cc BSA Winged Wheel
BSA made late-starting entries into non-traditional fields such as scooters and cycle-motors, where many competitors’ offerings were ephemeral and often of sketchy mechanical worth. BSA’s ‘Winged Wheel’, though, as one would expect, was a well-designed and well-engineered cycle-motor, and is now sought-after. A 35cc two-stroke fitted within a special bicycle wheel it had good performance and the best brake of any. TWA 404 has been in storage for forty years, following which the engine was fully restored by Alf Snell with updated internals. Running well in a Vindec cycle, this example comes with both V5 and old log book for its Sheffield number, as well as a spare engine.
