Lot 306: 1965 BSA 247cc SS80
BSA introduced the overhead-valve C15 in 1959 as a replacement for the C12, a modification of a pre-war design. A ‘unit’ single, the C15 proved popular as a learner and ‘ride to work’ machine and was given more appeal in 1961 with a sportier version for the 250cc ‘Learner’ market. With a tuned engine and more chrome-plate, the SS80, a smart machine, is quite rare, and in production for only four seasons. This completely original and un-restored SS80 has been in storage for some time and will require some re-commissioning. No documents had been found at the time of cataloguing.
