Lot 328: 1978 Suzuki GS1000
Ancestor of the mighty GSX-R1000 and historically significant as Suzuki’s first one-litre multi, the Suzuki GS1000 is today one of the most collectible of early Suzuki four-strokes. “The GS1000 provides the silky smoothness synonymous with most across-the-frame fours, an incredible amount of torque which reduces gearchanging to a minimum plus devastating performance,” reported Bike magazine, the ‘devastating performance’ amounting to a sub-12s standing quarter-mile time and a top speed in excess of 135mph. This example was imported into the UK from the USA in April 1992 and has been in present ownership for the past six-or-so years. Fitted with a Motad 4-into-1 exhaust system and new tyres, recent work includes recovering of the original seat. Described by the private vendor as in good condition throughout, the machine comes complete with its original exhaust system and workshop manual, and is offered with sundry invoices, MoT and Swansea V5.
