Lot 348: 1961 Panther 348cc Model 75
Makers since the beginning of the industry, the Yorkshire firm of Phelon and Moore were famous for their large-capacity ‘sloper’ models. The market for big singles hitched to bigger sidecars had declined in the face of the car and their smaller Models 65 and 75 were a – seldom- purchased – alternative, later superseded by Villiers-powered models. In 1962 the company gently faded away. This excellent Model 75 is, therefore a rare model. In the hands of its late owner since 1988 and rebuilt by him, it has a history file back to 1973, many old MOT certificates, and a dating certificate. Very well-finished in blue and chrome, it starts easily and runs well. With a V5C and MOT until May 2006 it is sold strictly as viewed but should require minimal re-commissioning.
