Lot 385: 1936 Velocette 349cc KSS Special
Slotting the Velocette overhead-camshaft engine into later cycle parts has long been an accepted practice among aficionados of the Hall Green factory’s products, and this example combines a pre-war KSS MkII engine and the swinging-arm frame of an MSS dating from early 1955, while the front fork and brake appear to be BSA. The accompanying old-style continuation logbook (dating from 1961) records the model as a KTS (the touring version of the KSS) and lists the current (MSS) frame number, indicating that the machine has existed in basically its present form for several decades. A tax disc dated 1969 also is included in the sale together with an instruction book for the KSS/KTS.
