Lot 390: 1950 Douglas 348cc Competition Model Rolling Chassis
Its generous ground clearance, ample front suspension travel and weighty clutch/flywheel assembly should have made the Douglas Competition model a winner in national trials, but the vagaries of its twin carburettor induction proved a serious limitation. Nevertheless, works riders did achieve a number of First Class awards in major events before the works team was disbanded and the model dropped in 1951 after fewer than 50 had been sold. Offered for restoration, this ultra-rare Douglas Competition model rolling chassis comes complete with fuel tank and is offered with Swansea V5 registration document.
