Lot 422: 1956 Velocette 349cc ‘Viper’
Introduced in 1956, the Venom and Viper sports roadsters were derived from the touring MSS which, since its re-appearance in 1954, had sported a swinging-arm frame and Hall Green’s own telescopic front fork. Development pursued as part of the scrambles programme resulted in increased engine power, the new 350cc Viper being marginally more powerful than the old 500. With a top speed of 90mph it was quicker too. First registered in 1956 in Derbyshire, this Velocette Viper appears to be in good, original condition and bears a tax disc dated 02.01, presumably the last occasion it was licensed for the road. The machine is offered without documents.
