Lot 367: 1962 Lancia APPIA SERIES 3

Auto Moto D'Epoca, Coys (19 November 2005)

Launched in April 1953, and subsequently available in saloon, coup and convertible guises with both short and long wheelbases, the Vittorio Jano designed Appia was in concept essentially a smaller version of the excellent Aurelia. Like the Aurelia it employed a front mounted V engine driving the rear wheels, in this case a 1,089cc four cylinder unit producing 38bhp and mated to a four-speed gearbox. Surefooted roadholding was provided by independent sliding pillar/coil spring front suspension and a live, leaf-sprung rear axle while brakes were drums all round.Described by its owner an in 'very good overall condition', this second series Lancia Appia benefits from a recent quality repaint and the interior has been renewed with the correct Lancia pattern cloth. It is finished in an appropriate period shade of dark brown with contrasting biscuit interior. The car is accompanied with a full road test certificate and ASI paperwork.
