Lot 211: 2005 Ginetta G20 Roadster

Autosport 2006, Coys (14 January 2006)

Ginetta Cars were founded in 1958 by the Walklett brothers. During the 1960's and '70's they produced some very successful lightweight sports cars such as the G4 / G12 / G15 and G16 to name a few before finally selling out in 1990 to the current owner Martin Phaff. Martin has taken Ginetta Cars back to their grass roots with a new model called G20. This is a modern sportscar developed to emulate the highly successful G4 as an affordable British sportscar that can be used for track days and competition as well as a fun weekend toy on the road. A highly successful one make race series has also spawned from this car that currently supports the British GT / F3 programme with drivers such as Vicky Butler Henderson, Shane Lynch, Adrian Newy, Tom Ferrier, Alistair McRae and Tiff Needall to name a few enjoying success behind the wheel. The G20 offered here today was supplied as a complete kit of new components by the factory. This has subsequently been built into what is probably the best road going G20 ever by TFM a leading Caterham/Marcos motorsport team and includes many detail upgrades. It has a new 1800cc Zetec 16V 125 BHP engine, 5 speed gearbox and independent rear suspension. It is SVA tested and ready to be registered on an 06 plate in the new owners name. This is an ideal car for that weekend blast or would make a great track day car with minimal running costs.
