Lot 041: Bentley Turbo R LWB
One of three Bentley Turbo Rs in our sale today, this 1987 example is the desirable long wheelbase model with plenty of extra leg-room that makes being transported in one of these wonderful machines an even more sybaritic experience than it usually is.
It was first registered as 'MAC 888' and supplied new by Hadley Green Garage, Barnet, on 2nd October 1987. It is believed that the first owner was Lord McLaurin. In 1994 the car was acquired by Mr D Collins who was to keep it until his death in 1997 at which point the car was put into storage until the death of his widow, Mrs Betty Collins, in 2006. It is on behalf of her estate that the car is now being sold.
Since the death of Mrs Collins, the vehicle has been re-commissioned by a former employee of a leading Rolls-Royce/Bentley agent at a cost of approximately 5,000, including a full gearbox rebuild (bills for which are in the history file). It is now said to drive beautifully with very good Light Oyster paintwork and a superb Parchment hide interior with picnic tables in the back.
The car had a documented speedo change at 79,837 miles and is now showing approx 1,800 miles on the clock giving a total warranted mileage of less than 81,700 miles. It has a full service history from new with 12 services to date, the first 10 (up to 65,000 miles) at the supplying main agent, Hadley Green Garage of Barnet. It was last serviced in July 2008 less than 1,000 miles ago. Due to have a fresh MOT before the sale, it comes with all its original handbooks. This luxury motor car looks huge value at the guide price suggested today.
